I think of the boats as harvest symbols because they harvest fish and are a common sight in Monterey Harbor.I think of the boats as a form of cubism. I was playing upon the word cubism...tongue in cheek - French art critic Louis Vauxcelles first used the term "cubism" "(bizarre cubiques)" in 1908. This was after seeing a picture by Braque and describing it as 'full of little cubes' after which, the term was in wide use but the two creators of cubism (Braque & Picasso) refrained from using it for a quite some time.

New Holiday

This drawing won the Leon Panetta Contest and went to Washington D.C. to hang in the Senate building for a while.
